The Ministry of Finance has officially recognised the Balakrishna Lalji Temple as a place of historic importance, allowing donors to receive tax benefits under Section 80G for contributions towards its renovation.
The tax deduction under Section 80G is applicable only for donations made towards the renovation or repair of the temple, with a total financial cap of Rs 50 crore.
The temple is managed by the Mota Mandir Trust, Mumbai.
The notification will remain effective until the Rs 50 crore renovation fund is fully collected or until March 31, 2030, whichever occurs first.
The temple is located in the Bhuleshwar area of Mumbai.
