Finance Minister Launches New Website of Department of Disinvestment

 

Union Finance Minister, Shri Pranab Mukherjee launched the new website of the Department of Disinvestment (www.divest.nic.in), here today. Launching the revamped website, the Minister said that in the age of information technology and Right to Information the website acts like a window to the Department and provides information at the click of the mouse. The Finance Minister said that the new website is user friendly and makes available information in a more organised and systematic fashion. New features of the website include Fact Sheets on Forthcoming, Current and Post Public Offers which would be useful to all users i.e. Investors, CPSEs, Intermediaries, and Researchers etc., the Minister added. Congratulating the Department of Disinvestment (DoD), Shri Mukherjee said when Right to Information is gathering momentum, the Department has taken the initiative as part of good governance through information technology, to provide all information that market participants need on disinvestment, in a transparent manner.



Earlier, Shri Sumit Bose, Secretary, Department of Disinvestment informed that this website is based on the feedback received by the Department from investors, brokers and their associations, members of public and media among others. He informed that the website contains details regarding 49 listed companies, SEBI guidelines and Disinvestment policy of the Government among others. Shri Ashok Chawla, Finance Secretary, Smt. Sushama Nath, Secretary, Department of Expenditure were among the senior officers of the Ministry present on this occasion. 



The Department has launched this website to provide primary credible data, to all kinds of users- Investors, PSUs, intermediaries, academicians, researchers, media as well as any person or organization having an interest in the disinvestment process. 49 listed CPSEs have nearly 25% of the total market capitalization of all listed companies on BSE. 



The website provides details of all recent and ongoing PSU public offers.
