The Department of Financial Services (DFS) and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) are collaborating to expand the Unified Lending Interface (ULI). This initiative aims to create a seamless digital platform for lending, integrating technology, data, and policy to make credit more accessible across India. Similar to how UPI transformed payments, ULI is expected to revolutionise credit delivery, particularly for underserved populations, by leveraging government data.

FAQ :
The ULI is a technology-based initiative designed as a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for the lending sector. It aims to integrate technology, data, and policy into a single platform to provide frictionless and inclusive credit access.
The Department of Financial Services (DFS) convened a high-level meeting, co-chaired by the Secretary of DFS, Shri M. Nagaraju, and Deputy Governor of the RBI, Shri T. Rabi Sankar, to discuss scaling up the ULI.
The primary goal of the ULI is to make frictionless credit available to every Indian, supporting the government's vision of digital empowerment, financial inclusion, and last-mile service delivery.
The ULI will integrate high-value datasets available with Central Government Ministries and State Governments. This data, when leveraged by lenders, can enable data-driven, inclusive, and faster lending, especially for those who are underserved.
The meeting concluded with a resolve to digitally integrate government datasets with ULI, nominate nodal officers for coordination, encourage states to digitise land records, and align other lending initiatives with ULI to build a unified credit delivery ecosystem.
It is suggested that ULI has the potential to surpass the transformative impact that UPI has had on the payment ecosystem, by revolutionising credit delivery.
