CBIC takes preventive measures against Coronavirus

Last updated: 18 March 2020

As we all are aware of the outbreak of COVID-19 in our country, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs(CBIC) has taken some preventive measures to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19. Here are the initiatives that CBIC has taken:

1. Introduced 24*7 Customs clearances at all Customs formations to help cope with supply chain disruptions due to coronavirus outbreak across the world (Refer Circular 02/2020-Customs dated Feb 20, 2020).

2. Major Custom Houses across India have issued Public Notices regarding waiver of late fees for delayed filing of Bills of Entry for goods imported from China, due to non-availability of import documents, post COVID-19 outbreak.

3. CBIC has appointed the Commissioner of Customs as a single point of contact for all approvals related to setting up & overseeing operations of bonded manufacturing units in India.

4. CBIC has set up a trade helpdesk for EXIM trade stakeholders to mitigate the anticipated adverse impact of the recent outbreak of Novel Coronavirus. This is available at http://cbic.gov.in and http://icegate.gov.in
