A Superintendent from the CGST & Central Excise Nashik Commissionerate was arrested by the CBI.
The Superintendent was caught accepting Rs 5 lakh in bribe money.
The bribe was allegedly demanded to avoid taking legal action against a private company regarding its GST input matter.
The initial demand was for Rs 50 lakh, which was later reduced to Rs 22 lakh.
Searches at the accused's residential and official premises led to the recovery of Rs 19 lakh in cash and incriminating documents.
The arrested official was produced before a court in Pune and remanded to police custody for two days until October 17, 2025.
