CBI Arrests CGST Superintendent After Recovering Rs 10,000 Bribe

The accused, caught red-handed, was found in possession of Rs. 10,000, believed to be part of the bribe money. The arrest follows a complaint lodged against the official, accusing him of demanding a bribe to activate a suspended GSTIN belonging to the complainant's wife's firm.

The complaint filed with the CBI alleged that the Superintendent had demanded Rs. 15,000 from the complainant to reinstate the suspended GSTIN. Subsequently, the bribe amount was negotiated down to Rs. 10,000. Acting on this complaint, the CBI initiated an investigation and laid a trap, resulting in the arrest of the accused while accepting the bribe.

Search Operations and Recoveries

Following the arrest, search operations were conducted at the premises of the accused in Rudrapur (District Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand) and Ambala (Haryana). During these searches, investigators recovered two lockers, bank accounts, and several incriminating documents. These findings are expected to aid ongoing investigations into the matter.
