The Income Tax Department has announced that over 53.54 lakh taxpayers received income tax refunds totalling more than Rs 82,229 crore. This period, from 1st April to 4th October 2021, saw refunds issued to both individuals and corporations. Specifically, Rs 20,510 crore was refunded to individual taxpayers, while corporate tax refunds amounted to Rs 61,719 crore.
