The government provides interest subvention of 1.5% to banks, allowing short-term agri loans up to £3 lakh at a concessional interest rate of 7% per annum. An additional 3% incentive for timely repayment effectively reduces the rate to 4% for farmers.

Loans up to £2 lakh are extended on a collateral-free basis for small and marginal farmers.
