FAQ :
The reforms aim to simplify GST registration, speed up application processing, reduce taxpayer interaction with tax officers, make compliance more predictable, and improve the ease of doing business, especially for small businesses.
The process will be streamlined with clear guidelines, comprehensive circulars and FAQs, improved user interface on the GST portal with drop-down lists and tool-tips, and amendments to application forms for better clarity.
Amendments to most registration particulars will be automatically accepted on the portal, except for the Principal Place of Business. For those under the automatic registration route, all amendments, including PPoB, will be accepted automatically.
The cancellation process will be simplified through automatic acceptance of applications when pending returns are filed and dues are paid. There will be phased implementation for automatic cancellation, and system-based cancellation and revocation mechanisms for non-compliance will be introduced.
Small sellers on e-commerce platforms who don't have a physical presence in a state and intend to pass on limited Input Tax Credit (ITC) can now register by declaring the e-commerce operator's warehouse as their Principal Place of Business. This registration will be granted automatically.
