Latin like Sanskrit used to be the ancient language in the West. Further English laws themselves were based on very ancient Roman laws during their period of good governance. Like Sanskrit on which is based all Indian languages, the European languages had their roots in Latin, the oldest language in the West. As times changed, English became popular but the legal terms in Latin were retained giving them a special place, perhaps reminiscent of their origin.
