Whether to accept a job in public sector bank

Dear Freinds, I have been offered a job in public sector bank. Presently I am working with a private company. My question is whether to accept the offer or not? I am concerned about career growth in Public sector bank. Moreover someone has told me that one cannot shift to private sector bank after working in a public sector bank. Please advise.

Your concern on job stagnation is valid because in PSB it will be tough to move up the hierarchy fast, lot of hurdles to secure a promotion. It provides you job security and can lead a less tension filled job. Whereas private sector job can be highly challenging and requires you to always be ready to accept multiple challenges and responsibilities and highly remunerative too. If you are willing to take risks in life a private sector job might be suitable for you, if you are risk averse grab PSB job...!! Before deciding do speak to people who are or were in banking sector and private sector, so as to get a balanced view, which will aid in your decision making.
