Whether medical reimbursement is taxable or not

I hv received ₹32000 on account of medical reimbursement of my wife. Whether this amount is taxable or tax-free. if taxable then in return where I hv to show it.

U/s. 80D of IT act, for medical reimbursement, Rs 15,000 is the maximum tax break that an individual can avail of against original bills. This exemption is given to the employee only if the medical expense is actually incurred on his medical treatment or his family members—who are dependent on him.

If the money received through a claim under a medical policy from insurance company, it is only a reimbursement of expenditure already incurred by the policyholder. As this does not amount to profit or income for the insured person, this money is not taxable.
