When Quests are Complsory - What should we do to score?

When I read examiner comments in suggested answer book(s) following points are often reminded to the students, i.e.:
  • Students need to work on grammar
  • The answers lack knowledge and understanding of the subject
  • Lacking command over the fundamentals of the subject
  • The candidates need more practical and conceptual exposure of the subject, etc.
The only appreciation that most examiners give is for a particular question in any paper that many students succeeded to answer and/(or) alternative solutions tried for the same. It is surprising that these points are continuing till date and never pointed any new observations.
Also, if we assume, that moderations are done, than only way to escape safe from new trend (Questions compulsory) is by passing with atleast 30-40 marks more than aggregate 50% and capitalize on the examiner comments.

When students give more attention towards presentation and preparation of the subject, yet they fall short by moderation (assuming the only negative aspect behind it!)
It is hard to believe that among PE2 only 43 showed capabiltiy in passing both groups among 1000's, similarly for other level exam(s) too.

Is there any thing more which we should improve???

It is time to make some improvements in our presentation and preparation of the subject to beat the on-going tough standards of examinations....and would like to know interesting feedback from all of you on how we can score better?

No one has any thing to say?

Yes. This is the high time to work on presentation and writing skills.

Marks in Audit and Law subjects are very low in this PCC and P.E.-II result. As per my understanding the reason behind this is not low marking. The main reason behind this is lack of concentration in theory paper along with poor presentation and writing skills.

Kindly appreciate Exam pattern is now practical Question based and not flat Question based so presentation and writing skills becomes very important.

For improved presentation and writing skills I would suggest you to refer answer presented in ICAI suggested answers. Careful observation of ICAI suggested answers is very important. Along with good study focus and observation is also very important to succeed in professional examinations.

One more useful suggestion is:

It is advisable for the CA students to have a glimpse of the guideline answers given by ICSI and compare them with ICAI's.

As we all know that ICSI answers are one step ahead from those of ICAI.  So a comparative "go-through" of these will help in presenting the better answers... this is not time consuming either...

A Good preparation is a priority to succeed with the presenting of the answers. I am following suggested of ICAI past 10 years and they are really impressive with complete anaysis which definitely i am trying to improve with practice by writing and discussions. Rightly said that we have to be more thoughtful practically and not flat learning is important, improvement has to begin by understanding concepts and developing the ability to frame them in right words so that examiner willingly hand over the right marks.

Thank you Ankur ..appreciate your feedback :-)

Agree with you.

One more important thing if you are conceptually very clear and strong but not able to present it then there is some problem indeed, which is required to be sorted out immediately.

Good conceptual knowledge with good writing and presentation skill is the key to success.

Best Regards

Bro Ankur i have the same problem, though i have good knowledge but i have problem to present it in an impressive way. What should i to overcome this

Dear friend,

Only you can solve your problem. Let me give you a practical suggestion. Compare you way of presentation with ICAI suggested answers and figure out the modification you need to adopt to keep your presentation up to the mark.
