Before that, have you registered with any university earlier.

Actually process is if you registered with distance or open universitites.  for ex : ( in 2011 you registered  in 1st year. exam will be conducted in may. if you are not attempted in may you can attempt in nov and coming may you can complete 2nd year. how ever it takes 3 years to complete. the question you asked will applicable only for discontinued students. 

yeah..i have registered with nagarjuna university for 1st yr..but i didnt attend the exams.

can you tell me in which year you have registered. 

if you registered in the year 2008 or 09. you can clear in a single year. if not you can't
