 Hi friends. Please stop talking about minimum stipend. If institute raises minimum stipend then small and medium chartered accountant office won't recruit article who dont have any basic knowledge. Then there could be situation where we will be forced to pay money to get articleship. (Bribe). They can get paid assistance at Rs.5000 who can work any number of hours.

 
Note : It is minimum stipend. There are firms who pay more stipend. Who ever want more stipend go there. Example PWC. They will pay you more.. But their recruitment procedure is complex. Not easy to get article there. If institute raises stipend, then the same PWC procedure will be followed by everyone.
 
Merits and demerits of raising minimum stipend.
 
Merits
 
1. More money to enjoy.
2. It may support for our studies.
3. Poor families, stdents can take care of family too.
 
Demerits.
 
1. Stringent recruitment procedure.
2. Increased working hours to compensate the amount paid.
3. Increased work load and even targets may be fixed.
4. Limited requirement by CA to their need. So Non availability of vacancy.(Unemployment)
5. Stringent procedure for exam leave. Even no leave for exams.
6  Profit oriented, not training oriented. (Chartered accountants are clever in managing 
 
finance. They know how to make profit).

hey, i agree.. but you only think that we are also under PROFESSIONAL TRAINING, it means we are also providing professional service... if we work as per  working hours specify by ICAI then 1000 is enough....

 I am also article. I too want to earn more. I working minimum 8 hours a day in my office and more than 12 hrs during september and july. But there are certain think we need to accept. See if i want to leave i will start sharply by 5pm. But if they raise stipend then they will want me to work till 7pm everday . It will become condition.

hey, how much stipend you get??  tell me one thing, you are already working for 8 hrs a day, then working till 7 will not create any problem... right now what we get & what we work that we & he, both knows... i will be more happy if i get appreciation of working in terms of money, otherwise my enthusiam will be no more in doing that work...

Think as a whole..

 I am getting what is basically prescribed by institute. I am in my 3rd year of articleship and getting 1500 as stipend.  I accept sachin. Reward in the form of money will surely increase our enthusiasm in office. 

Just understand what i told. If institute raise stipend then the demerits which i posted will happen. Institute recommendation is for minimum stipend. It is the principle who has to decide the quantum.. But that won't happen at all. 

What will be solution is we should be stringent in maintaining time in case of working hrs and we should concentrate fully on studies. Try to get the two letter behind our name with little bit of work exposure.

You are correct. We should be happy atleast we get something for our work. And our training is for learning purpose and not for earning. We will earn a lot after becoming Ca. Your post is really good

Hello Friends, I am new to this form and from Canada. I have been living here for 23 years and I am a Certified General Accountant (CGA). Another accounting body equivilant to CA's. I was missing India so thought I check out what India has been up to for last 23 years. Needless to say I was surprised to no end after hearig that Indian CA firms do not pay salary to their articling students. Here Salary for CA articling is $32,000 cdn to start and students are complaning about that. I think it is unethical to make the students work for free. May be India is in need of another accounting body to create some compitition. Monopolies in training and education sector can never be a good thing. In the US CPA's get paid about the same salaries as Canada (32,000US start) and work their way up as they progress.

These are my thoughts and please take them with a grain of salt.

 I am getting what is basically prescribed by institute. I am in my 3rd year of articleship and getting 1500 as stipend and i am totally fine with the stipened.

but my prime concern is that my principal deduct stipened from my non working days moreover he also deduct my leaves.  I am bearing both :- loss of leaves & loss of pay .

 is it  allowed to deduct both leaves & stipend for leaves availed by the articled trainee?

Please help. Its a serious concern for me.

I think stipend should increase stipend, because there is nothing like training, and students work like a employee in the office, so they should earn at least 50% of their work.
