Hello friends,

Please tell me about DVAT applicability on Catering Services. On which amount should VAT be charged, i.e. including or excluding Service Tax?

For example, if total catering amount = Rs. 1,000,

then how and at what rate DVAT and ST should calculated?

Vat is calculated on amount excluding service tax.

In your example:

Total Catering Amount is 1000

Service tax: 1000*12.36%=   123.6

VAT(say @ 5%)1000*5%=       50

So the total bill amount is (1000+123.6+50) Rs.1,173.60

Hi Shruti,

Thanks for your help!

What is the DVAT Rate applicable in this case?
