I am a proprietor carrying business of sale and service of computers. the VAT Regn is being done under my mothers name. filed returns . now i want to change it and carry on the business by registering in my name with the same VAT No..
is it possible to do so ?? or i ve to surrender this reg and apply for new one under my name.?? pl reply
i think u has to transfer business on your name ..
and vat registration certificate will be amended to your name
without business transfer it is not possible..

Hi,
As far as Karnataka is concerned, there is no provision to change the transfer of ownership. You need to Apply and obtain new registration in your name. Thereafter, you can sell the existing business (which is in your mother's name) to your business. Once the business is sold as a whole, your mother's registration can be surrendered.
