You've received a notice to file an updated return, and after paying the additional amount, you've received another notice with an additional demand. Filing an Updated Return Again: - *Eligibility*: You can file an updated return again if you meet the eligibility criteria under Section 139(8A) of the Income-tax Act, 1961. - *Time Limit*: You can file an updated return within 2 years from the end of the relevant assessment year. Key Considerations: - *Additional Demand*: Since you've already paid ₹2.16 lakhs and received a notice for an additional demand of ₹1.56 lakhs, filing an updated return again might help reduce or eliminate the additional demand. - *Interest Liability*: As you've mentioned, interest is increasing day by day. Filing an updated return again might help minimize the interest liability. Recommended Course of Action: 1. *Consult a Tax Professional*: Seek guidance from a tax professional or chartered accountant to ensure you're meeting the eligibility criteria and following the correct procedure. 2. *Review and Revise*: Carefully review your updated return and revise it as necessary to ensure accuracy and completeness. 3. *Submit the Revised Return*: Once you've revised the return, submit it within the prescribed time limit. By filing an updated return again, you may be able to reduce or eliminate the additional demand and minimize the interest liability. However, it's essential to consult a tax professional to ensure you're following the correct procedure.
