USING DATA TABLE IN EXCEL

Purpose:

Assume you have calculated an output using a formula and you would like to change the input variables for obtaining the results on different scenarios. The easier way to do this is by “Data Table”.

Input Data:

Now if you would like to know in one screen what will be the final maturity at various interest rates viz 7%, 8%, 9%, 10% and at various no of years 3,4,5,6 etc, we need “Data Table”. Before doing so, please create a format as shown below:

Important Note:

The main thing in this function is that you need to link the initial output that we derived in cell “C6” (at Rs 12,950.29) in the intersecting rows and columns cell viz “E2”. The table format will look like below

How to do

Where do I find Data Table in Excel 2007 / 2010

Go to “Data” tab to locate 

Where do I find it in Excel 2003 or earlier

Go to “Data” menu to locate the same.

First select the entire range of cells from “E2 to I6” and click on data table. The screen will look as follows:
