Hello, I wanted a TIN# to start as a seller on flipkart/amazon and snapdeal. So i contacted a CA in my area who told me that there are two procedures one is the voluntary one and one other category. He told me that for the category which will suit me I will have to pay a one time fee of about Rs. 5025 and a DD for 25000 as deposit which will be returned after 3 years. Can anyone tell me if this seems correct ? I have read about the fee being 5000 but havent heard anything about a deposit of 25K. Any help is welcome.

Dear Reuben,

for Vat the Law is different for different states. There is no such security amt now a days for DVAT Registration. but for Maharastra it is applicable. so first u must specify the state in which u want registration.

Thank you for the reply. Yes I am based in mumbai and want to register here itself. Is the process very lenghty and will this number help me set up a currnt account as well ?

u r welcome Reuben,

No the process is not that much lenghty or tedious bt I suggest u to hire a Practising CA for this, better if he is a young one. It is not just only about Registration bcoz after that u hv to file ur vat return on regular intervel even if turnover is nil.

and yes this TIN number would be enough along with other ID Proof to open a current account of ur firm.

Dear, Sir/Madam

I have run my own PVT. LTD.

Actually, I want to sell the product by Flipkart.

But they want my TIN and TAN number which i don't have.

I'm just starting trade business.

So, I don't have any invoice and trading document.

then, How can I make TIN number?

To make TIN, I have to submit trading document and data like import export invoice.

But I don't have these things.

Could you help me?

Dear John,

You dont need such documents for Vat registration. if it is proprietorship concern of yours then for registration you need only your ID along with some personal and other business related info depending on your which state your registered address is situated.

dear sir,

incase tin is blocked what is procedure for activation please any one send that details. That firm is fertilisers we have to file vat returns on june2015. but present new return has not opened please send the details.
