It is the duty of the elected representatives to protect the lives of the citizens living in a democratic society. It is very unfortunate that no system to fight against terrisium has been laid down.Polic forces are fully equipped to fight against these sofiscated terrists.Unless politicians take actions against the terrirists they will not be voted to power.

Hi , its really shocking to see whats happening across the country...if today top hotels with good security are attacked , who knows tomorrow even schools and colleges also can be targetted ... we could be one of their potential hostages too .. its high time for India to decide on some measures to combat security measures.. instead on fecilitating cricketers and paying them huge rewards , funds could be diverted to bring in new technology to make our country more secure ,, it has to fix ceiling on remunerations to be paid to celebrities.. whats the big deal if they receive crores of rupees for endorsements , ultimatels they contribute nothing ..

Some measures like national identity card could to be issued to every citizen.. and producing the same must be made compulsary at various circumstances like travel by rail/road etc or taking houses for rent or even a stay at a hotel... this could prevent intruders..

There should be checks on migration from one state to another by what so ever means , borders needs to be strengthened , higher level security has to be initiated at bus stands and railway stations like that of airports ,

And most importantly , during the time of crisis , the country should unite ,, managing such crisis at macro level isnt that easy,, people must co-operate with the concerned authorities and not cause menace.. in India we need additional patrolling not to combat the crisis but to control the crowd at the site .. Politicians have no clue what has to be done but they are quite smart to accuse the opposition regarding its failure.. Hats off to them!!! No wonder majority of the population dont turn up to vote...

Sir,

RE: Practical solution to end terrorism:

Very frequent Terrorists attacks in any part of India was not now shocking but at Mumbai it is like a War- it is other kind of terrorists’ attack where they came to fight like a war! Hundreds of innocent persons died and seriously injured  in most brutal terrorist attack in Mumbai at several places simultaneously shows how deep rooted plans they had. More shocking is the government’s policy on terrorism, politically –just because of vote banks country’s stake is at dangerous level as no stern action is taken and in the process indirectly terrorism is encouraged by nation’s weakest policies and intelligence failures. Some practical measures (may be theoretically wrong) but is the need of the hour like killing all suspected terrorist put in the jail –as often terrorists’ demand is their release by putting common men hostages. Than kill all terrorists instead of capturing them and putting into jail-if interrogations are required –just kill after the interrogation –in no case put them for trial of court! Another solution to send a message to terrorists’ outfits is that in no case any of their demand or negotiations shall take place, in extreme cases kill them with hostages if they cannot be rescued without terrorists’ being  killed. Even killing them in fake encounters is not wrong! The point of emphasizing is that terrorist must get the message in no way their demands shall be accepted and they would be killed instantly and shall fail to go back alive-their mission /motive shall fail at all such attacks in future.

All foreign national especially from Bangladesh and Pakistan must be sent back to their respective countries even if their ration cards are made, selecting a particulate date for such persons to send back-nullifying their ration cards by suitable amendments in law if required so. As they are threat to security of India even Supreme Court Ruled it but not yet implemented just because of again vote bank politics.

There is also need for the heavy security at all borders and entering points in India including sea-coastal areas.

Where are local political parties of Mumbai who are after certain section of people and their local progress is at stake because of them .Come forward and fight with terrorists like with other regional people of India. It is high time to ban regionalism in politics as it is not less than terrorism, both results in a weaker nation.

Theoretical solution to end terrorism:

Terrorist attacks have become too frequent, the latest being War at Mumbai. It is a ruthless action of a few persons. Since terrorism has become a big problem, India should have a separate ministry at the Centre, called the “Ministry of Anti-Terrorism”. This Ministry should continue till the canker of terror is rooted out from the Indian soil.

Terrorism must be rooted in all its forms, colours and manifestations. Those involved in it — individuals, groups and countries — should also be destroyed in toto. Instead of catching them and putting them in the jail and wasting the taxpayer’s money, terrorists should be killed just as they kill innocent people.

Yours faithfully,

(M. Kumar)

Terrorists hijacked white police jeep near Metro cinema in South Mumbai .
Firing was also reported near Maharashtra state assembly building in South Mumbai.
Armed with AK-47 rifles and grenades, a couple of terrorists entered the passenger hall of CST and opened fire and threw grenades, Mumbai General Railway Police Commissioner A K Sharma said.
The terror strike which began at 10:33 PM at Chhatrapathi Shivaji Terminus(CST), formerly known as the Victoria Terminus(VT), claimed 10 lives in the premises of the station alone, police said.
Three persons were killed in a bomb explosion in a taxi on Mazegaon dockyard road and an equal number were gunned down at Taj Hotel. The victims in the hotel were its employees.
The lobby of the Oberoi hotel was on fire and the hotel evacuated, eyewitnesses said.
Maharashtra DGP A N Roy said tonight's attack in "at least seven places" is a "terror strike."
Sharma said 30 persons were injured in the CST incident. Commandoes were rushed to the CST which wore a deserted look and train services suspended.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh is cutting his Kerala visit and returning to Mumbai. He described the situation in Mumbai as "very serious".

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has condemned terror attacks in Mumbai and assured Maharashtra government of all assistance.
The NSG commandos were on standby and national disaster response force unit is being rushed to Mumbai, the Ministry of Home Affairs officials said.
Some people were injured in the firing in Oberoi hotel, and taken to a nearby hospital in police vans and ambulance. Firing was also reported in Taj hotel.
Firing was reported at Colaba, Nariman Point and near Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal, formerly Victoria Terminus and it was still continuing.
Firing was also reported at Cama Hospital in south Mumbai, police said, adding that a blast was reported in a taxi under a flyover in suburban Vile Parle. A bomb went off in a taxi in Mazegaon dockyard road.
SRPF personnel then entered the iconic BMC building -- just opposite CST -- to take aim at the assailants, BMC commissioner Jairaj Phatak said. "We fear some of the assailants are still inside the station and we want to catch them if they come out," a police official said.
Vikhroli police station senior inspector Habib Ansari was on his way to work from his Colaba home when he saw two armed men, with sophisticated weaponry, trying to run into bylanes near the Gateway of India.
"I rushed back to Colaba and all policemen, including GRP and RPF personnel, were called up," he added.
Bhisham Mansukhani, a journalist, was attending a wedding reception at the Taj's Crystal Room. "I was inside the bar when glass shards almost hit my eye," he said. "More than 200 people were escorted inside Chambers, a business centre inside the hotel," he added.
