Company has issued prize in one of the ETV kanad singing contest and in that the co. has not recovered any amount of tds from winners and co is bearing the tds component. so want to know whether PAN details need to be asked from winners for quarterly TDS return and can company pay tds on behalf of winners...?

Sec 139A (5A)-- Every person receiving any income from which tax has been deducted shall intimate his PAN to the person responsible for deducting tax.Prize money+TDS shall b income of the contestant .
