RESPECTED SIR / MADAM,
I want to know about the provision of IT Act, 1956 regarding TDS on transporting chgs. Previously it was rule that when pan is given no tds would be there on it. Is there any change in the rule from financial yr 2012-13?

No...there is no withdrawal of notification by CBDT. Still it continues. No tds on Freight charges
agree with Mr. Ramsai.... the same provision is still there.. i.e. No TDS if PAN is given in regards to transportation....

Yes, Not only collection of PAN card of payee it is mandatory to provide details in TDS return,,ofcourse nil rate on tds on transporters but it is mandatory to report the same in TDS returns Vide ammended rules 31A from 01.4.2012 onwards
