Is tds to be deducted on total bill amount including service tax? means is there tds on service tax also? pls clarify and provide the clarification if any frm the IT dept.

Subsequently, CBDT has clarified vide circular issued during May 08? that TDS need not be deducted on service tax on rental payments . This exemption is available only for rental payments. In all other cases, TDS is to be deducted for the sum paid to the contractors (inclusive of taxes etc).,
