My company has to pay 24818/- per month as rent on building.Acc to the new TDS rates it amounts to TDS of Rs.2481.80. My question is
1.Is it necessary to add ec. cess & surcharge to this?
2.Should I round off this figure to 2419/-?
3.Can I use the same challan 281 to make payment into bank?

No Surchage & cess applicable.
Yes you must round the payment on the higher side.
Till date payment made in challan 281. There is no such clarification regarding that........

Dear Jaya, No Surcharge and Cess is applicable for TDS (Applicable from 01-04-2009) You can round off the TDS to 2482/- instead of (2481.8) 10% of 24818/- You can use the same ITNS 281 as new form 17 still to be come in operational

3. I think TDS for companies has to be paid online , it cannot be paid physically.

there are arrangements with the bank who will pay it online.
