TDS not reported for my Fixed Deposit interest

Hello Everyone,

I have fixed(term) deposits in HDFC bank which has generated a interest income around Rs. 8000 for FY 2019-20. My bank has not yet reported this to 26AS for any TDS deduction. I have verified that my PAN number is properly updated in my bank account.

What I wanted to know since the interest is less than 10000, is this the reason the bank has not deducted any TDS and not reported to 26AS??  I was searching in google and saw links on some upper limit of 10000. Wanted to confirm if there is any rule like that if the fixed deposit interest is less than 10000, then TDS is not deducted.

Thanks in advance...

Quick Summary
A user is querying why no Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) has been reported for their Fixed Deposit interest income of around £8,000 for FY 2019-20, despite their PAN being updated. They suspect a threshold limit might be the reason, as they found information suggesting TDS isn't deducted if interest is below £10,000. Another user clarified that for residents, TDS is generally not deducted if interest income is below £40,000 (or £50,000 for senior citizens), referencing Section 194A.

No TDS required to be deducted by bank if your interest income is less then 40000 ( For Resident senior limit is 50000).
Refer section : 194A
