Hi,

My client has paid TDS for AY 2012-13 and by mistake they have mentioned AY 2011-12 in the challans. Can we adjust this with AY 2012-13 If Yes, what is the procedure? If we cont adjust, can we get the money back from department and what is the procedure?

Thanks

Reddi Kumar Reddy

You have to Correct the Challan otherwise it will not be adjusted in A.Y. 2012-13.  The procedure of correction of Challan are mentioned in below-mentioned link:

Its only the officers at the department has authority to make any changes once the challans are paid.TDS returns can be filed with same challan for A.Y - 2012-2013 but a notice will be received as the chaalan won't match in the database which then can be replied and recetified.I think there is still no provision where the assesse himself can make the changes for wrong payment of the challan.

Hello Reddy Kumar,

You can write a letter to the PRO stating the case accordingly they will take the corresponding actions

CIT(TDS) is empowered to make corrections, visit him with challan copy and a request letter.
