TDS for 2020-21

May 2020 for job work new tds is .75%
but we deducted and challan paid for 1% at older rates...
For same deductees we have bills in June2020 also, so shall we average the two month bills and calculate the TDS @ new rates...
and if we pay the balance tds in challan is that okay... at the time of TDS quarterly return filing will there be any problems..

Quick Summary
This discussion addresses a common query regarding TDS rates for job work during the 2020-21 financial year. The user mistakenly deducted TDS at the old rate of 1% for May 2020, when the new rate was 0.75%. They are asking if they can average the May and June deductions and pay the balance TDS, or if they should treat the excess payment as a credit. The consensus is to keep the May TDS at 1% and apply the new 0.75% rate to June's deductions, paying any balance under the new challan to avoid complications during quarterly return filing.

Don't average the rates.
So the challan paid excess for may tds let it be for 1% itself...
June tds whatever comes we hve to pay under new challan
pls correct me if I'm wrong
