TDS - Doubt

Can anyone please clarify my doubt about TDS ?

1. What is the rate of TDS for an employee working in a Pvt. Ltd Company ? Is it 2.24% ?

2. If at all an employee falls under Income Tax Slabs, then how an employer gives TDS Certificates ? I mean what is the procedure for an employer to get TDS Certificate ? From where will he get ? Will he take from an auditor ? or prepares on his own ?

Thanks & Regards,

Jhansi

there is no rate of TDS for salaries...

it is charged as per slab rates..

if any tax is deducted then the employer will issue form 16( TDS Certificate).

it is prepared by employer itself

Thank you for the reply but still I have a doubt...! On what basis employer will deduct from the salary of the employee ? and how will an employer obtain TDS Certificate and give it to an employee... can you please let me know the exact procedure with an example ?

employer himself prepares the certificate..

a men employee earning rs 250000 p.a

his tax would be as follows..

upto rs 160000 no tax..

from 160000 to 250000.. 10% i.e. 9000 (250000-160000)*10%

ec and shec 3 % i.e. 270 (9000*3%)

total tax = 9270

so every month tds will be deducted at 9270/12= rs. 773

So if there is a possibility to prepare TDS Certificate in Tally Software... then is it valid ??

u cannot prepare from tally... its a form u have to fill in all the details thats it...

There are inbuilt forms in tally... it looks similar to original one... so cant we really use it ??

i am not sure about tally form i have not seen any of that kind..

Well anyways... i thank you a lot for discussing this...! Bye...!

Chintan Bhai... thank you for adding...!

welcome

I agree with Chintan mehta.

When an person Deducts TDS he gives Form 16 to  concerned person. So in ur case Emloyer will give Form 16 to Employee as a proof of TDS decuted...

Yes you can prepare form 16 from tally provided all the details are filled and the form is signed!
