25 September 2013What is the meaning of "number of challan unmatched" in TDS Provisional acknowledgement deductor copy.
Sometime this option shows "N.A" and sometime it shows "1,2,3......."
is there any problem in return if this option shows "N.A" or " no.of challan"
Please help...........reply...............

Dear Sir,
the statement shows "N.A." when you didn't put the challan file (downloaded from incometaxindia site) for comparison with the challans you entered in the TDS return...
and it shows "not matched or 1,2,3 i.e. such line of TDS challans" are not matching... when you entered the file for comparison, but the same couldn't be matched/tallied and there's difference between the amount/detail you paid TDS challan for and the detail/amount you entered in the TDS return for....
they should match.. there might be wrong amount entered in TDS return by your side... so, kindly check that with the challan paid and rectify the errors...

Thanks for this usefull information...
Please let me know the url of the page from where i could download the challan file for comparison.........I tried to download the challan file from the url -https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/oltas/ and one .csi file was downloaded. Now how to compare with .csi file.........
My question is whether it is mandatory to compare challan with challan file before filling TDS return............Please reply.....

Dear Sir,
yes, the link is same as provided by you... it is compared at the time of validating the file using FVU file provided on tin-nsdl site... that is the file/software which you used to create fvu file (which you submit in CD to file return)..
Generally, it is not compulsory.. if you have checked the details manually with the link provided.. and are very much sure that the challan details matched correctly.. then, N.A. will be shown.. and no problem in it... but it is always advisable to download that file and compare it with details you entered.. (mainly in case there are number of challans.. e.g. >20 challans.. then, it will be automatically checked and validated)..
