Whether TDS applicable on Clearing and Forwarding Agent , if yes than under which section. Please provide some reference.

TDS applicable on Clearing and Forwarding Charges ?

Payments to Clearing and Forwarding agents for carriage of goods are subject to TDS. The Clearing and Forwarding agents themselves are also liable to deduct tax on payments to a carrier of goods. [Circular No.715 dt.8-8-1995]

Section 194C shall apply and rate of TDS that wiil be applicale are 2% (Company,firm.Co-op Society,Local authority) and 1% (HUF , Individual).
