Taxation of foreign ETFs

Tax queries 304 views 1 replies

As per section 50AA of the ITA, the transfer of market-linked debentures and specified mutual funds will be deemed to be short-term capital gains. The definition of specified mutual funds is ""Specified Mutual Fund" means a Mutual Fund by whatever name called, where not more than thirty-five per cent of its total proceeds is invested in the equity shares of domestic companies". Given this definition, are foreign ETFs also included even if underlying securities are foreign shares, not debt?

DDT is abolished and treated as Finance income. After sale STT. Transactions at IFSC are levied at 15% Concession. If your salary is below 2.5 tax bracket, its exempt, but if STCG is 3 l, its taxed as at 15% as it above exemption
