There's a case..

X & Y r siblings. Y booked a flat on her name but as she had to shift to US, X said k he'll pay d installments of housing loan n he was transferring money in Y's account n den EMI was paid.. Now on, mutual understanding, dey r planning to register d flat in X's name as he was paying d EMIs. D issue is dey will hv to pay stamp duty again which dey want to reduce.. Any suggestions wat can b done? There's an option of gifting d property wherein d stamp duty can b reduced.. But den will dey hv to pay gift tax?

since X and Y are siblings and fall in the definition of Relatives, therefore there will be no tax liability in case any gift is made and hence no chargeable income u/s 56(2)(vii)
