Tax refund of 2010-2011, arrear calculation

810 views 1 replies

Hello Sir,

I have following queries regarding tax refund

1. Can we claim tax refund for previous year investments? My father had taken infrastructure bond (L&T) worth 20000 but Finance department mistakenly has not shown in the Form 16. The ITR was filed manually. Can he now take refund by e-filing this year

2. There was Arrear of ~5L for Salary period 2007-2011.  Finance team had deducted TDS at flat 30%. Since during this period, the salary component was reached in slab of 10%/20%, there is a scope of getting refund in case appropriate calculation is done.

The query is, what are the steps of calculation, and what supporting evidences are required for it

3. Finance team has deducted Much more TDS than actually applicable. I fear this will continue for the salary of Feb/march. Can this be  prevented, by properly discussing with Finance team. Also, Is Tax refund only way to get the deducted TDS, or employer can return this amount in Salary of Feb/March.

Thanks a lot

Tilak

the invetments are to be taken in the year in which it is invested. It can not be deducted in the subsequent years. If the company may return the excess tax by reversing the same in the subsequesnt quarterly TDS returns
