Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the different VAT rates applicable to goods and services in the UK. It explains that while there are typically six standard rates, the concept of 'nil-rated' supplies is distinct from zero-rated supplies. Nil-rated supplies are set to zero by government notification for public interest, whereas zero-rated supplies, such as exports, are also taxed at 0% but have different implications.
