Tax on short-term capital gain for women

Hi,

My wife has a trading account and use to trade (not much frequently). She has got some short-term capital by selling shares. She is a house wife and not working at the moment.

Can you please confirm the tax liability on her.

Regards
Manish

Dear Manish,

If there is no other income earned by your wife and the total income of your wife is less than the limit as per income tax i.e. 190000/-  so your wife's income is not taxable. and is the short term income from share is more than 190000/- in this case than ur wife's income is taxable @ 15%.

Thanks & Regards,
