Tax of resident indian who is employed in uk

Hi All,

I took up a job in UK starting Jan 2012. Since I was in India for more than 6 months, I am considered Indian Resident. As a result, I guess I have to pay income tax for UK income as well.  I have paid tax to UK goverment for the income earned in UK.

I had a few questions?

(a) Can I claim deduction of any kind on my UK income? For example, is there a HRA eqvivalent that I can claim on UK income? I have been staying at a rented place and pay a substantial rent in  UK.

(b) Under what head do I mention UK income? Would it be salary income or just other income?

(c) Do I need to take any letter from UK tax authorities to claim tax credit against tax paid to UK government.

(d) What is the conversion rate that I can use for converting UK pounds to INR?

Regards

Ashok
