I would like to know that is it right or else mandatory to add 2% extra tax by retailer on his sales beyond MRP. I purchased a product worth Rs. 2000/- and the retailer charged 2% extra for paying through credit card. When i asked for the reason he said that his banker will deduct 2% for the card transactions. Please let me know how should i be careful next time when i make a card transaction. I also request to post a URL link where the government has made any notification or amendment regarding the 2% charges.

Yes, some of te retailers charge 2% extra if you make the payment through the credit card. Some of them do not charge 2%. Also what the retailer says is correct, the bank deducts 2% from his payment, so the retailer charges 2% extra. I also don't know if this is the correct way to charge
