There is a option in tally in export for exporting it in excel ... do directly from that option...
Press alt E or select 'export' from the button panel. Select d destination and format. Press enter. Now go to d destination which u gave. Open d excel file and do d necessary changes.

Dear Reena,

The above suggestion will work only if you are using Tally 9.0 or above. If you are using any lower version the feature is not present in Tally.

Once you go to BS, selet the detailed on condended and Press Alt'E" automaticall its appears export dilouge box selct yes, all data hasbeen exported. To open this file you have to see like this ,if u don't know destination. Go to Tally icon clik right button then select properties it's shoes property box then you have to select find target now you will get exported file directy u can open. thank u

go to export menu click it will ask export documents .  you type which account you want  profit and loss or balance sheet . please give the file name . please give options you want.

sambasivarao @ basixindia.com

u can export file but u cant maintain format ....and @ pavan for ur kind info. ....export option is also avbl in 7.2 also...

IN CERTAIN TALLY 7.2 THERE IS NO OPTION OF EXCEL

ASCII HTML  XML & SDF FORMAT OPTION R AVAILABLE SO WHT ABT EXCEL

Dear Reena,

First mention which version Tally you are using. If you are using Tally with version lower than 9, then you need to first use "Merge and Centre" Icon in Excel tool bar.

By using condition formulae eg "if" you can juggle the data and can get data in excel format in presentable manner.

I M USING 7.2 VERSION

HW I USE MERGE & CENTER  ICON & WHICH CONDITION FORMULE USE ?

Export the Balance Sheet Or P & L in HTML format.

Now open Microsoft Excel ---> Go to File Menu ---> Open and select the path where you have stored the said .html file.

You may require some formatting in the said file.

Hi all

you can export  file to excel in all version, while using 9.0 one can directly export to excel whereas in old version following step has to following. (eg 7.2 )

1.  click  export option

2. select format ASCII

3. give ur own file name with extension .xls and save.

4. open blank excel file and locate you file in tally folder (usally in c:\tally7.2)

5. select delimited  option from pop up screen > click next

6.click tab and comma box appear on the top and below you will find the preview of that report.

click finish and  format as per your requirement.
