Surrender of cop - few queries

Hi all,

I am holding COP currently. However due to better avenues in some other business, I am planning to surrender COP.

Following are some queries:

1. Procedure? Just a simple letter along with COP is sufficient?

2. Say after a year or two, I plan to again take COP, will my firm registration no. remain same?

3. Do I have to do any procedure to cancel my firm name?

Any orher points I have to take care of? BTW, I read ICAI's note of surrendering COP but didn't find above points there.

if you want to practice again after 2-3 years its better write a letter to write a letter to icai and state the employment you will be taking. Your cop will be converted into part time cop and firm name will also not be surrendered whenever you want to practice again just intimate icai and your part time cop will reconvert into full time. This way, you will be permanent holder of cop also and firm also.
