Let the number of unskilled workers be N1  & their average salary be X1

Let the number of skilled workers be N2  & their average salary be X2

As per formula for combines arithmetic mean X12  =  (N1X1  +  N2X2)  /  N1  +  N2

12000  =  (10000 N1  +  15000 N2) / (N1  +  N2)

12000 N1  +  12000 N2  =  10000 N1  +  15000 N2

2000 N1  =  3000 N2

N1/  N2  =  3 / 2      So  N1  :  N2  =  3  :  2

So percentage of skilled workers is  2 / 5  x  100  =  40%.

Either the question is incorrect or the options mentioned.

As per a book available with me the correct options are 40%,  50%,  60%  & None.

The options mentioned as per you are stated in the preceding MCQ.
