I'm doing consultancy in astrology and similar fields past few years.

- I tried to look into a lot of websites to find the answer for the best choice, googled a lot in past 2 years, registered a trust, but finaly I decided to have an properietership. My income is nearly 1-2 lack per anuum . My question is:

- Since I want to register my 'ABC mantra' firm, where should I register?

- I want to protect my name should I register the trade-mark? Can I?

- How to protect the name of the firm? Should i register it? where?

- Should I register for Vat, Income Tax, service tax etc? where?

- Do i need some licence to provide consultacy to the foreign countries?

I know that I can open an account without much formalities in a society bank.

you need to obtain a certificate of enlistment ( trade licence) from local municipal body, apart from professional tax enrollment from local commercial tax office. stating the purpose of your commercial establishment.

VAT is not applicable unless u sell rights or goods, service tax applicable after 10 L

at present NO llicence is needed, but u need to get some registration from any govt accredited agency for your profession.

- I know that I can open an account without much formalities in a society bank.

u need a current a/c in any nationalized bank ( sbi preferred)

thanks for confirmation of all the above things.

I think,a few last things:

-Since i work from home, will i need certificate of enlistment?

-Do I need to register somewhere also other than the trade-mark registery?

for any trade practice there is certificate of enlistment, which is issued from local municipal body, address may be your home.

your savings account is not trade account, for that u need a current a/c in name and style of trade, if u have current a/c then request bank to cange and operation name and style in name of your trade name, ( produce certificate of enlistment for this purpose to bank)

in case u depute employess then Profession tax registration , otherwise profession tax enrollment is needed.
