Standard deduction claim

hello so my mom is a pensioner who is receiving family pension of my dad. after the revision of her pension she seems to slightly cross the limit for the nil tax payers which is rs. 3,00,000 (she is a senior citizen). she has some income sources from deposits and her over all income is slightly crossing the rs.3,00,000 mark for the current financial year. i have come across the hike in standard deductions in salary which is upto rs.50,000 for paying tax. i would like to know that in case her total income slightly exceeds rs.3,00,000 does she need to file a return to claim the standard deduction or will the deduction be made automatically by the department and she need not file a return to claim the deduction .

She must file return, if the aggregate income exceeds 3 lakhs.

There may not be any tax liability, but filing return mandatory.

As per sec 139(1), you are not liable to file tax return for the above narrated case... though you may choose fo file voluntarily.
Sir, She Have To File A Return Before 31st July.
As Mother is getting pension of your Father.. Standard Deduction Will Not Be Applicable For Her. Coz Std Ded. Is Applicable Only For Own Salary Or Pension.
& As Her Income Is Above Rs. 3 L, She Has To File A Return.
Chinmay ji is right. Hence its family pension.

sir..i read an article which said that the government has given a clarification again that standard deductions are applicable for pensioners too as their pension comes under the name "salaried". so pls give a clarification on this point.i am posting the link of the article below.

does it still mean she has to file a return to claim deduction at this point?

sir pls also let me know if anything like a rs. 15,000 standard deduction is permissible for  a family pensioner...also should she file return for claiming this rs.15,000.
