Stamp duty on jewellery and share given as gift ?

Hello,

If my mother is giving me some jewellery (around 8 lakhs) and shares in Demat form as gifts via a "Gift Deeds"

should stamp duty be paid for the jewelley and shares. If so then registration will also be needed to be done?

Thanks

milind

Rules relating to registeration of gift deed and stamp duty on the same will vary from one state to another. I would suggest you take the help of an advocate in your locality in this regard.
