St payment before registration??

Sir,

we have been charging service tax in the bill (for painting and decorators)since december 12. But we have applied for registration a bit late(~~29 dec, 12~~).We are a proprietorship.

I learnt that ,as a proprietorship, we are supposed to deposit service tax by 5th OR 6th of the following month for every quarter.Since we have already collected the service tax in december bills, how do we remit it to govt if registration is not yet done? (since due date is 5th jan already)

any suggestion or solution to this problem will be really appreciated.

There is no option to pay service tax without registration number. Since you have applied for registraton, u may wait till u get ST2. Make your payments latter with interest.

as per the service tax law if u have applied for registration then if the certificate of registration is not issued within 7 days of registration then it shall be deemed to have been granted. Therefore, u can deposit it by 5th

Actually my mistake. the actual date of sending registration application as appearing on online portal is 2 Jan 2013. no certificate received nor registration confirmed yet.

But we already charged service tax in december bills.(a mistake?)

What do we do now, please help.
