Is it illegal for the employer to provide Sodexo coupons as tax benefit? In my organization, the management says that it is a grey area and the company can get into trouble if they provide sodexo or other meal coupons to the employees as a tax benefit. I want to understand what the law is regarding this and how the company can be in trouble ?
meals coupon exempt upto Rs50 per day .But if this coupon is used for buying groceries there is no exemption .However we go by employees declaration and exempt upto rs50/day other things why company is in trouble and all i cant understand and there is nothing wrong for a company to give meals coupon to employees
