Why not income tax introduce TDS return filing as in form by CBEC ( excise), which is simple for anybody. This is will erdicate dependency of assessee over any agencies for filing TDS return. After the assessee files his return, the information can be gathered by department through any special software made for scurtiny & allocations of credit to deductees.
I agree with your point and the next think the agencies are not filed the returns correctly and it results the not getting the refund for the assessees. One of my client is not getting refund of Rs.78,000/- due to incorrect PAN mentioned by the agencies and even now they are not ready to file the revised TDS returns. Filing TDS revised returns gets more complicated, download the original returns from NSDL site.......oops.
