Show cause notice

I AM INTO COMPUTER REPAIRS & MAINTENANCE.
I HAD APPLIED FOR REGISTRATION IN THE YEAR 2003 AS PER THE NEW ACT. LATER I FOUND I DID NOT FALL UNDER THE PER-VIEW AS I WAS DOING CASUAL LABOUR WORK OF REPAIRING & MAINTENANCE OF COMPUTERS. FURTHER MY TURNOVER WAS LESS THAN 2LACS FOR THESE LABOUR WORKS. I APPLIED FOR CANCELLATION OF NUMBER IN 2004 & GOT AN ACKNOWLEDGED COPY.
RECENTLY AFTER 8 YEARS I RECEIVED A SHOW CAUSE NOTICE FROM THE DEPARTMENT FOR MY NOT FILLING MY ANNUAL RETURNS & NON PAYMENT.
I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO GO ABOUT THIS AS I HAVE NOT CHARGED OR COLLECTED ANY SERVICE TAX FROM MY CLIENTS. FURTHER NO CERTIFICATE WAS ISSUED & I HAVE NO RECORDS OTHER THAN MY APPLICATION FOR CANCELLATION OF SERVICE TAX NUMBER.

u can submit the acknowledgement received from deptt as receipt towards application for surrender of registration certificate.  And if department further asked, u may submit the evidence showing that the turnover of services rendered by u was within the exemption limit (limit for which no registration is required).

agree with Kapil...i dont think there will b much of problem...
