short term capital gain

209 views 5 replies
I m salaried person,

if I invest ₹10,000/- in stock, after 30-40 days I booked profit of ₹1500.

and with this profit+principal amount i.e. 11500/- reinvested in another stock (without withdrawal amount from demat account)

is me liable for short term capital gain

my thinking - a profit amount is not withdrawal from demat, so this gain is not enjoyed by me. only i switched the scheme of investment.

please correct if I m wrong

that is correct answer
No you are not correct there is no exemption if you invest short term capital gain in other securities or else..

Dear Samraul,

Demat account is just a bank accounts from which you can pay for your shares and get amount after their sell.

Practice following by you is wrong.

No. It is not right. Rs.1500 is short term capital gain.

Also, even if you count it as switching of investments, it attracts capital gain tax.

Do not follow such practice. Take proper guidance.

thanks all
