There is no limit on number of shares to be mentioned in a single share certificate. But share certificate should be properly stamped in accordance with the Stamp Act of respective state where share certificate issued.

The distinctive numbers are to be mentioned on the face of the share certificate and if these numbers are not continuous, then a single share certificate can not be issued for the entire holding..
